Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Background
The Town's Capital Improvement Program identifies the improvements to Mockingbird Ln. from Invergordon Rd. to 56th St. to be a continuation of the FY2012-13 Mockingbird Ln. project from 52nd St. to 56th St. This project included a curvilinear alignment, new curb and gutter, medians, bike lanes and sidewalk. Staff presented the proposed project at the October 24, 2019 Council Work Study and was asked to present various design alternatives for Council consideration that included options that had a reduced scope of work. This agenda item is for Council to consider approval of two consultant contracts to provide Council options for the roadway alignment and analysis of the drainage issues in the area.

This section of Mockingbird Ln. is past due for asphalt resurfacing. However, the City of Phoenix has a 16" water main project along this alignment that is anticipated to start construction in 2021. Any proposed improvements to the roadway alignment, storm drainage or asphalt resurfacing will be constructed after the City of Phoenix has completed their water main installation.
