Council Goals or Statutory Requirements:
* Town Code Chapter 12, Section 12-2-1(A) - The Town Council shall appoint the Presiding Judge for a term of two years.
* Town Code Chapter 12, Section 12-2-2 - The Town Council shall appoint Associate Judges for a term of two years.

Recommendation
Make the following appointments to the Paradise Valley Municipal Court for the term November 1, 2019 - October 31, 2021:

Steven A. Cohen, Associate Judge

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Paradise Valley Municipal Court has jurisdiction to hear all criminal misdemeanors, civil traffic offenses, and Town Code violations occurring within the Town limits, as well as jurisdiction over orders of protection, harassment injunctions, and the issuance of summons and arrest warrants within Town limits.

The Court is made up of the Presiding Judge and nine Associate Judges who all serve on a volunteer basis, accepting no compensation for their service. Each judge is a member of the Arizona Bar Association and has received judicial training.
