Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Paradise Valley Municipal Court has jurisdiction to hear all criminal misdemeanors, civil traffic offenses, and Town Code violations occurring within the Town limits, as well as jurisdiction over orders of protection, harassment injunctions, and the issuance of summons and arrest warrants within Town limits.

The Court is made up of the Presiding Judge and nine Associate Judges who all serve on a volunteer basis, accepting no compensation for their service.  Each judge is a member of the Arizona Bar Association and has received judicial training.

On October 10, 2019, Presiding Judge J. Tyrell Taber met with the Town Council in executive session to discuss the selection of new judges and the performance evaluations and surveys for current judges.  Based on the evaluation results, Judge Taber’s recommendation is to reappoint the seven current Associate Judges and appoint two new Associate Judges for two-year terms.

Biographical information of the judges is attached.
