AGENDA TITLE:

Title

Amendment to Town Engineer Contract with EPS

Body

Council Goals or Other Policies / Statutory Requirements:

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Approve Amendment No. 1 to an Agreement to Provide Services/Supplies Pursuant to a Cooperative Purchasing Contract

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Public Works Director and Town Engineer James Shano resigned this summer to take the Deputy City Manager position of El Mirage.  While the position is vacant, the Town Manager has contracted with the EPS Group to provide engineering services.  Woodrow Scoutten from EPS will serve as the Interim Town Engineer until the position is filled.

Mr. Scoutten and EPS have a contract to provide Town Engineering services to Litchfield Park.  Paradise Valley used that contract with a cooperative purchasing provision.  Mr. Scoutten also provides or has provided Town Engineer services to Wickenburg, Tolleson, Buckeye, and other Arizona communities.

The Town Manager has the authority to procure services up to $25,000.  This was done with the initial contract signing over the summer.  This Amendment authorizes expenditures beyond $25,000 consistent with the pricing terms of the contract.  These expenses are expected to mirror the cost of the Public Works Director/Town Engineer appropriated in the FY17 Budget.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Consistent with the expenses budgeted for a Public Works Director/Town Engineer in the FY17 Budget.
