RECOMMENDATION:
Discuss implementing a possible salary for Town Council
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the April 14, 2016 Town Council meeting, Councilmember Paul Dembow moved, and Vice Mayor David Sherf seconded with unanimous Council approval to have a discussion regarding paying the Town Council a salary. A transcript of the motion and associated discussion is attached for reference.
Staff has provided a list of salaries from other Arizona jurisdictions for the purposes of comparison. Further, the payment of a salary likely has implication regarding A.R.S. 38-296 better known as the Resign to Run statute. As such, a copy of that statute is attached.
This study session item is anticipated to be a philosophical discussion with Mayor and Council providing direction to staff regarding any further action.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Unknown. Dependent upon salary value selected if selected.
