Background
BACKGROUND:
Town Attorney Andrew Miller will be retiring from the Town on December 17, 2020. A temporary acting Town Attorney should be appointed effective December 18, 2020 and given authorization to approve all agreements as to form and fulfill all other duties specified in Section 3-3-5 of the Town Code as the duties of the Town Attorney. Assistant Town Attorney Deborah Robberson has the knowledge, skills, and expertise necessary to serve as the Acting Town Attorney and should be appointed as the temporary Acting Town Attorney starting on December 18, 2020 and continuing until such time as a permanent Town Attorney is appointed by the Town Council.
Adopt of Resolution No. 2020-38 will allow for an Acting Town Attorney to be ready to approve agreements, ordinances, and resolutions as to form and otherwise be able to sign documents requiring the signature of the Town Attorney. It is recommended that the Town Council adopt Res. No. 2020-38.
