Adopt Resolution 2020-26 Authorizing the Mayor and Town Manager to advocate on behalf of Town Council during council recess
Background
SUMMARY:
On June 13, 2019, the Council passed a resolution to ensure the Town’s values and interests were preserved and expressed on behalf of the full Town Council during its 2019 summer recess. Of particular interest, along with other items at that time, was a pending application for the Five Star Palmeraie II proposed development along the eastern Town limits with the City of Scottsdale between Lincoln Drive and Indian Bend Road.
Since that time, the City of Scottsdale submitted comments back to Five Star in fall 2019. On May 11, 2020 Five Star responded with a resubmittal of its application to the City. City of Scottsdale staff has concluded their second review of the Palmeraie project, identifying 24 outstanding issues that still need attention. Under the unlikely scenario that those items are responded to and the application is heard during Town Council’s recess, the attached resolution would authorize the Mayor and Town Manager to comment on the application on behalf of the full Council during this recess, or any other recess in the future.
