AGENDA TITLE:

Title

Discussion of Cut-Through Traffic

Body

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Background

At the January 2020 Town Council Planning and Zoning Process Retreat the Council specifically requested a study session item to discuss potential paths forward to consider and address this issue.

There are two specific traffic related items that staff regularly receives complaints about, speeding and cut through traffic.  Speeding is generally a quantitatively defined issue that can be identified and abated with engineering and enforcement activities.  Cut through traffic is a much more difficult issue to define, due to its qualitative nature, and subsequently abate.  It can be particularly challenging to limit only specific users of a roadway, i.e. the cut through traffic, will also allowing for the free movement of local traffic.

The attached presentation will clarify cut through traffic, concerns and potential mitigation measures.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

No anticipated impact at this time.
