Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Town of Paradise Valley has a proud history of volunteer service to the community.  In addition to all-volunteer Town Council Members and Municipal Court Judges, more than 50 residents donate their time and expertise to the Town by serving on various committees, commissions, and boards

Each year, the Town invites residents to submit applications to fill committee vacancies.  This year, positions became available on the Board of Adjustment and the Advisory Committee on Public Safety.  These vacancies were advertised on the Town’s website, social media, and in the Town of Paradise Valley Independent Newspaper.  Applications were due February 15 to be considered for appointment.  The Council held interviews on February 28 and March 14 and there was consensus to recommend appointing Rohan Sahani to the Board of Adjustment and Tim Dickman to the Advisory Committee on Public Safety.

There are also vacancies on the Municipal Property Corporation (MPC).  Traditionally, the MPC has had seven members.  The Mayor’s recommendation was not to advertise the MPC vacancies because all the bond debt they oversee has been retired.  Accordingly, the committee will not be active unless the Town decides to issue bonds in the future.  Section 3.04 of the MPC bylaws provides that membership shall be comprised of not less than three and no more than twelve.  The MPC will remain in existence, but membership will be reduced from seven to five.
