Authorize the Town Manager to execute a contract with Loftin Equipment for the purchase and installation of a new Public Works and Police Department backup generator.
Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The replacement of the Public Works / Police Department backup generator is included in the FY18 Capital Improvement Plan. A single generator is used to provide backup power to both buildings so they can provide the critical services often needed during a power outage event. This project will also connect the Court Building to the new backup generator, as planned when the court was constructed in 2014.

The existing generator is approximately 25 years old (its actual age is unknown as it was purchased pre-owned when the Public Safety Building was constructed in 1996). Its current capacity is 300KV, which on full load utilizes 80% of capacity, well above industry standard and not allowing for any further expansion for additional circuity on the generator. The diesel fuel tank is 250 gallons which provides approximately 20 hours of operation on full load.
