Discuss and support the Mayor's 2018 VIP Strategy
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Tonight I will present to the Town Council my 2018 VIP Strategy for discussion and support. My intent is to present a proposed recruitment and selection process and implementation strategy based on best practices that I have observed during my time on the Town Council and as Mayor. Also presented is a proposed timeline for 2018.
While the intent of this study session item is to discuss and get Town Council support for the 2018 process, due to the tight timelines associated with the process, I am also asking for a subsequent and separate, yet tonight, discussion on two implementation decisions for the 2018 process:
1. What does the Town Council wish to do about the prior committee vacancies on the Planning Commission and ACOPS? It is my recommendation that we roll the vacancies into the upcoming 2018 process.
2. In order for the Town Clerk to initiate the advertisement of committee vacancies, it is necessary (under the proposed 2018 strategy) for the entire Town Council to determine which committee reappointments to approve, and which, if any, requests to deny. This has a direct and obvious effect on the extent and number of committee vacancies that we advertise for. I have asked Duncan to provide any and all information that we have that may assist you in that determination.
