Complete work from March retreat on Mayor and Council priorities.
Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
A critical part of each term of a Mayor and Council is to establish goals, priorities and a work plan for accomplishing such. The March 2017 Mayor & Council Retreat initiated this work. Seven goals, or perhaps better termed priorities, were articulated for the 2017-2018 term. A draft of which is attached. Council will review this list and determine if the priority is adequately articulated. The Council will then be asked to prioritize the list. Lastly, a discussion on work plan tasks to accomplish these priorities will ensue. Given the limited amount of time in a term to work on priorities and the fluid nature of associated conditions that affect accomplishment of the priorities, there is an assumed flexibility to the tasks. Therefore the tasks will be reviewed and general direction given to understand the scope, scale and time allocation.
A possible pre-amble was drafted and attached to recognize that the continued work on public safety, resort development, quality of life initiatives, etc. will continue and is forefront even if the list of priorities is not articulating specific action items in each of those areas. There are many important and time consuming initiatives already underway that perpetuate this work in addition to the priorities being called out.
