Approve the appointments to committees, commissions, and boards as listed in the Action Report.
Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The terms of certain board and committee members will expire March 31, 2017. Approval of the appointments listed below will provide the Town with the required number of members to fulfill the legal responsibilities of each of committee.

On September 22, 2016, the Town Council adopted Ordinance Number 2016-05 changing the terms of office for most committees from October 1 to April 1. The ordinance also extended the terms of incumbents six months. The decision to amend the effective dates was in response to the consolidated elections law which switched the date Council Members take office from June to January. Moving the appointment process to the spring allows newly elected Council to take office, hold a policy and goal retreat, and conduct committee interviews and make appointment decisions based on the new Council's policy direction.

In accordance with Town practice, committee members whose terms expire this year were asked to provide written statements expressing their interest in being reappointed. The names of those wishing to continue their service were forwarded to the Mayor for nomination. Vacancies were advertised on the Town's website, social media, and in the Town of Paradise Valley Independent Newspaper. The Town received a total of 25 applications for seven vacancies.
