Visually Significant Corridors Master Plan

Body

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The character of a town and its neighborhoods is largely determined by the appearance of its streetscape.   The streetscape may include a variety of elements, such as vehicle travel lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, street furniture, utility poles, trees, accent plantings, lighting, and signage.  To encourage high-quality streets that demonstrate the positive character and image of the Town, the concept of Visually Significant Corridors has been included in the Town’s General Plan and is one of the Town Council’s Quality of Life Initiatives.

To assure exceptional visually significant corridors are created, the Town retained Environmental Planning Group (EPG) to develop the Town’s Visually Significant Corridors Master Plan.  EPG has scheduled a Public Meeting and Design Charrette from Monday February 6th to Wednesday February 8th.  A design charrette is a process for collaborative problem solving and decision making during a multi-day design event that develops the community’s ideas into graphic concepts and design alternatives.  The Project Introduction and Visual Preference Survey will be conducted on Monday, February 7th.  At the February 8th Planning Commission Work Session the consultants will present graphics, concepts, and ideas being prepared in the design charrette for the Commission’s review and comment.  This will aid the consultants in the Alternatives Evaluation that will be presented to the public on Wednesday evening, February 9th.
