Discuss and provide direction on the Scope of Work for the Sustainability Task Force.

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Part 7 of the 2012 General Plan focuses on Sustainability.  Further, several Paradise Valley residents involved in an executive master’s program in Sustainability at ASU contacted the Town about performing some volunteer work in this area.  Working with Councilmember Dembow, Mayor Collins and the Town Manager, the volunteers were formed into a work group and the Manager’s intern was assigned to them as staff support.

Sustainability work was considered as one of the Mayor & Council’s Quality of Life Initiatives; however, the Council wanted to see and discuss their scope of work before launching the initiative.  Further, the Leadership Team has felt the best format for this volunteer work is as a Town Manager Task Force.  Consequently, that is the guise they are working under.  The Task Force consists of Warren Gorowitz, Vice President of Sustainability Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply; John Martinson, Founder and Co-Chairman of China Mist Tea Company; and Dawn Olsen, Paradise Valley resident.

Attached please find a proposed scope of work for the Sustainability Task Force.  Blaise Caudill, the Town Manager’s intern and ASU MPA graduate student, will make the presentation on the scope of work.
