Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Water Committee was first established by the Town Council on June 26, 2003.  The Water Committee composition was changed by the Council on January 22, 2009, and renamed as the “Water Utility Committee.” The Water Utility Committee is comprised of members from the Town Council, Town residents, and Town staff.  The objectives of the Water Utility Committee were to address adequate fire protection and water supply to all property located within the Town of Paradise Valley and to communicate with residents in forums and other venues on water issues before the Town.  The Water Utility Committee served as an advisory to the Town Council and made recommendations to the Town Council on pending water utility rate cases and other regulatory matters from time to time.

The Water Utility Committee has not met since May 2, 2012.  The objectives set before the Water Utility Committee have largely been addressed, thus it does not appear that the Committee needs to meet again in the future. The Water Utility Committee should be dissolved.  It is recommended that the Council adopt Resolution 16-04 and formally dissolve the Water Utility Committee.

BUDGETARY IMPACT: None.
