Authorize to the Chief of Police to sign the agreement for the purchase of 34 TASER electronic control devices, and recommend transfer of contingency funds to cover the expenditure.
Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
In FY 2017, the police department budgeted $20,000 to purchase 12 electronic control devices. This would have replaced approximately one-third of the devices in the police department. Over the course of three years, the original plan was to replace all the devices in the police department at a cost of approximately $60,000.

Breaking the entire purchase into three years had several drawbacks:
* Having different styles of TASERs, with different capabilities deployed to the officers.
* Needing to train officers on two different models of electronic control devices.
* Purchasing different cartridges used by the different models of TASERs.
However, breaking the purchase into three years had two advantages including:
* Having the ability to split the costs for the program into three years.
* Having different dates placed into service, so that all the electronic control devices do not have to be taken out of service at the same time.
