RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Further discuss 2017 Legislative Agenda for the Town of Paradise Valley with focus on those elements relevant to the State Legislature.

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The 2017 Legislative Session for the State of Arizona begins on January 9, 2017.  As our legislative delegation discuss desired changes to the Arizona Revised Statutes, they look to the municipalities they represent to provide policy and impact analyses of proposed language.

At the December 1, 2016 study session, Council reviewed and discussed the recommended legislative agenda for the upcoming year.  The attached agenda incorporates the direction from Council, and provides a meaningful framework and direction for the upcoming legislative session.  This study session will focus on the revised document.  If time permits, the Mayor & Council may revisit the expanded document originally presented.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

A thoughtful and strategic approach for the upcoming legislative session will help to preserve Town revenues and maintain low expenses.
