SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Planning Commission met three times on July 19, 2016, August 16, 2016 and September 6, 2016 to discuss the proposed changes to the noise ordinance for construction noise and for leaf blowers. On Sep 20, 2016 they voted 7-0 to recommend Ordinance 2016-10 for approval to the Town Council. The existing noise regulations are located in two different sections of the Town Code, have unattainable requirements, and are difficult to enforce. The Planning Commission, working with staff support, consolidated all of the noise provisions into Chapter 8 Safety, Health, Sanitation and Nuisance, Article 8-10 Nuisance noise. They also revised the allowable Sunday noise level from 45 dB (A) to a more realistic 75 dB (A) and defined some noise related terms. They changed the allowable start time from sunrise, which changes daily, to an easy to understand and enforce 7 AM.
