Recommendation
Hold a public hearing and recommend approval of a new Series 11 liquor license application filed by Andrea Lewkowitz on behalf of Hyatt Corporation Andaz Scottsdale Resort.
Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Andrea Dahlman Lewkowitz, agent for Hyatt Andaz Scottsdale Resort located at 6160 N Scottsdale Rd, filed an application for a new Series 11 (hotel) Liquor License and on September 11, 2015. This property, formerly the Cottonwoods Resort, had a liquor license but the bar and dining facilities were located in Scottsdale. In the remodeled resort plan, these facilities have been relocated to Paradise Valley.
Although liquor license applications are filed with the State of Arizona which has the primary responsibility for reviewing the application and conducting background checks on the owners and agents, A.R.S. ? 4-201 requires that the Town Council conduct a public hearing to receive comments on whether or not the issuance of the liquor license in the best interest of the community. Notice of the application was posted on the applicant's premises for 20 days in accordance with state law. The Town did not receive any arguments in support of or opposition to this application. Moreover, there are no past or pending complaints against the property on file with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.
The Paradise Valley Police Department has reviewed the application and finds no reason to oppose it. Additionally, the Community Development Department has no objections to the application insofar ...
