SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Craig Levy, the Epizoologist in the Office of Epidemiology, Maricopa County Department of Public Health, has agreed to update Town Council and staff on the Zika Virus currently in the news nationwide. His presentation topics include:
• Overview of Zika virus, transmission and risks
• Symptoms, lab testing, diagnosis and treatment
• Zika and pregnancy, birth defects
• Mosquito control and our risk here in Maricopa County
• Current status of Zika activity and cases in Latin American countries, the U.S. and Arizona
• Recommendations for travelers on prevention and precautions
• What residents can do locally
