Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Staff presented the findings of the IT Strategic Plan during the January 28, 2016 Study Session.

The Town's Administration and Government Affairs Department developed and published an RFQ for Information Technology Strategic Planning services in June 2014. The successful vendor, Mindboard, Inc. (Sterling, VA), began the defined scope of work in February 2015. Initial findings were presented to Town staff in June 2015, with a comprehensive report delivered in October 2015.

Mindboard was requested to conduct an organization-wide technology needs assessment, review current job assignments within the Information Technology group, analyze customer service and performance metrics, identify technology resources that do not match current industry standards, provide a general recommendation of emerging technologies and sustainable technology practices applicable to the Town's structure and vision, develop suggested operating procedures to best ensure the successful implementation and sustainment of the recommended strategic plan, and identify training and development opportunities for technology staff. A "gap" analysis and recommended solutions are a key component to the final report.
