Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This design of this project was awarded at the January 28th, 2016 Council Meeting through a separate Job Order Contract (JOC).
The western half of 52nd Street between Tomahawk Trail and Orchid Lane does not currently include sidewalks or ADA accessible ramps. This project will move the existing western curb to the east, shortening the current shoulder and allowing for the installation of a new sidewalk along this stretch. This new sidewalk will fill in the only missing pedestrian connection from Tatum Boulevard at Mockingbird Lane to Shea and 52nd Street. To ensure proper drainage, grade, and lane widths, the southbound drive lane and bicycle lane need to be removed and reconstructed.
This project is included in the FY2016-17 Capital Improvement Plan Budget. As such, a Notice to Proceed will not be executed for this project until after July 1st, 2016. The project is anticipated to take two months to complete.
