Recognition of Maria Syms

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Maria Syms has served the Town of Paradise Valley for 12 years, first as a member of the Planning Commission, and then as a council member after being elected in 2014.  She resigned in December 2016 so she can represent District 28 in the House of Representatives.

Maria’s accomplishments throughout her career on the Planning Commission and Town Council are numerous, impactful and lasting.  While on the Planning Commission, she provided a steady voice of knowledge, experience and shared community values.  She was an advocate for preserving the Paradise Valley residential character, being fiscally responsible, and keeping an open line of communication with Town residents.  While on the Council, Maria made public safety her top priority.  As the council liaison of the Advisory Committee on Public Safety, Maria supported increasing police presence on Town streets and equipping our police vehicles with state of the art technology to improve response time.

Michael Collins will officially recognize Representative Syms contributions to our community at the January 26, 2017 council meeting.
