AGENDA TITLE:

Title

Adoption of Resolution 2019-17 Authorizing the Mayor and Town Manager to Support the City of Scottsdale’s Efforts and Advocate on Behalf of Town Council with Regard to FAA Flight Paths

Body

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Adopt Resolution 2019-17.

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

During recent community meetings, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) presented concepts for potential changes to flight paths for Sky Harbor Air Traffic. The City of Scottsdale worked with JDA Aviation Technology Solutions and Covington & Burling to propose to the FAA a modification that, If implemented, would provide relief to Paradise Valley and Scottsdale residents by shifting some of the eastbound departing traffic further east along the Salt River, a much less densely populated area.

Adoption of Resolution 2019-17 will allow for the Mayor and Town Manager or designee to advocate on behalf of the Town of Paradise Valley for less disruptive flight paths.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

None
