AGENDA TITLE:
Title
Award of Contract to Level 7 Technologies to Install Fiber Optical Conduits and Cable on the Town Campus.
Body
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Authorize the Town Manager to execute contract CON-19-082-IT in an amount not to exceed $81,779 and grant budget authority for the expenditure in FY 2020.
Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Town’s fiber optic infrastructure is from the late 1990s. It has limited speed and no redundant paths across the campus. The most cost-effective solution considering the total lifecycle costs are single mode fiber optical connections. These will be 30 year passive assets that require almost no maintenance. This technology will also allow deployment of improved public safety technology for LPRs and traffic control without deployment of expensive and sensitive equipment in the desert environment.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
This is a one-time budgetary impact that was budgeted and appropriated.
1. $81,779 provides redundant connections from Town Hall to PD and access points to existing Town owned communications conduits down Lincoln Blvd.
2. The conduits under Lincoln Blvd have a value of $45 per foot under state contract schedules $988,068 and could avoid cots of $7680 for the 8 LPRs facilities
