AGENDA TITLE:

Title

Award of Contract for Sanitary Sewer Repairs

Body

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Authorize the Town Manager to execute Contract CON-19-085-ENG with Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC in an amount not to exceed $409,526.81 for the Glen Dr.; Cheney Dr. and Hummingbird Ln. sanitary sewer repairs.

Background

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Per the Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Scottsdale for Wastewater Treatment the Town is in the process of completing year three of a five year sanitary sewer assessment program.  The sewer assessment program recently identified locations of ductile iron pipe and vitrified clay pipe that have structural deficiencies and are recommended for immediate repair. The recommended repair is to line the sanitary sewer with a cast in place pipe.

The proposed contract will line portions of sanitary sewer as identified below and shown in the attached exhibits:

1.                     Glen Dr. from Indian Bend Rd. to 400’ west of 59th Pl.

2.                     Cheney Dr. between 66th St. and Invergordon Rd.

3.                     Hummingbird Rd. from 490’ west of Quartz Mountain Rd. to 230’ east of Quartz Mountain Rd.

The contractor will notify residents that may be affected by the sewer repair process, will monitor sewer flows during the lining process and have a vacuum truck on site to pump sewage if needed.  Staff has been consulting with the City of Scottsdale’s Wastewater Department Staff and initiating recommended repairs as the sewer assessment program identifies issues.

The cost of the repairs are within the Town’s sewer repair budget for FY2019-20 and the notice to proceed for these repairs will be issued after July 1, 2019.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

$409,526.81 from the Sewer Fund
