AGENDA TITLE:
Title
Update on the Town of Paradise Valley Public Safety Foundation 501(c)3
Body
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Council hear an update on the Paradise Valley Public Safety Foundation and give input into the Foundation’s originating documents
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Paradise Valley has many generous residents who have an affinity for high quality police services. Those residents also are very giving with their financial success. The Town has an IRS status as a government unit and as such, can accept charitable contributions under IRS code 170©1. However, this presents some complications with public perception and law enforcement. Creating a Public Safety Foundation classified by the IRS as a 501©3, might be a better alternative.
This study session item will update the Town Council on the creation of a Public Safety Foundation and allow input on proposed foundational documents, including the Mission Statement and the Articles of Incorporation.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
There is no budgetary impact to update the Town Council on the Paradise Valley Public Safety Foundation.
