AGENDA TITLE:

Title

Adoption of Resolution Number 2018-28; Amending Resolution 2018-05 Cellular Service Task Force

Body

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Adopt Resolution Number 2018-28.

Background

The Town Council created the Cellular Service Task Force by unanimous vote on February 22, 2018.  The Task Force’s mission is to review existing conditions and challenges posed by the Town’s unique topography, identify coverage gaps, and seek solutions in the marketplace to improve cell phone coverage and signal strength in the Town.

Resolution 2018-05, which created the Task Force, set an October 31, 2018 deadline to report on its findings and disband.  Although the Task Force has met with industry professionals and has identified a range of promising options, a final report will not be ready by the end of October.    Accordingly, Resolution 2018-28 proposes to extend the operational life of the Task Force until a final report has been presented to the Town Council.  Moreover, since the Task Force may meet beyond the end of the current Council term, the text listing the steering committee members has been amended to list the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Town Manager or his designee instead of specific individuals.
