SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This summer PSPRS Board Chair Richard Fincher stepped down from the PSPRS Board, thus creating a vacancy on the board and a vacancy in the position of Chair.
Jamison Van Houston, who has served on the board for several years now, has graciously volunteered to take on the role of Chair. His temperament and professional background, as well as tenure on the Board, make him a great candidate for Chair. His appointment as Chair is subject to approval by the Town Council.
Keith Wong is a resident who applied for a volunteer position in 2017 and was interviewed by the Town Council but not selected at the time due to the large number of applications. At the time, the Town Council indicated a desire to find a spot for Mr. Wong when something opened. In August 2018, at my request, Duncan Miller contacted Mr. Wong and learned that he is still very interested in serving the town as a volunteer. His background and experience would make him an excellent candidate to fill the vacant board seat. Nomination to the board is a right given to the Mayor under ARS, and as such, Mr. Wong is being proposed as the Mayor’s nomination to fill the vacant seat on the board. His appointment to the board is subject to approval by the Town Council.
This study session is meant to provide Town Council with an overview of the above, in anticipation of an action item on the 20 September business meeting agenda for both actions.
