AGENDA TITLE:
Title
Authorize the Town Manager to Execute a Contract with PEC in an Amount Not to Exceed $47,467 for the Removal for Storm Sewer Inserts from the Towns Sanitary Sewer Manholes
Body
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a contract with PEC in an amount not to exceed $47,467.
Background
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Town is currently conducting a Sewer System Assessment of the pipes and manholes owned by the Town of Paradise Valley. As part of that assessment, the contractor is removing any storm water inserts that are found in our manholes. Such inserts are designed to measure flow volume but were the cause of a sewer back-up last year.
This contract award is to expedite that process of removal, completing an inspection of every manhole in the town’s sewer service area in approximately three months, documenting and removing all remaining inserts. It is estimated there are 715 manholes to be inspected outside of the scope of the on-going Sewer System Assessment.
The town will be utilizing the same contractor that is currently doing the assessment with a cooperative purchasing agreement through the City of Scottsdale. This contract will cost the town $39,968 to remove the inserts and includes a $7,500 allowance for confined space retrieval, if necessary.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Approval of this contract will cost the town $47,467 from the sewer fund.
